Museum of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn received subsidy from the Norway Grants
Museum of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn obtained the subsidy for the project “Conservation and restoration of the 14th c. castle in Lidzbark Warmiński – a pearl of gothic architecture in Poland – stage II” within the framework of the “Conservation and Revitalisation of Cultural Heritage” programme. The total project cost is 19,368,870 zlotys while the subsidy amount is 13,390,700 zlotys. The funds for implementation of the project originate from the Norway Grants and the European Economic Area Fund (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) as well as the funds of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Own contribution was secured by the territorial government of Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodship. Obtaining funds for revitalisation of the castle in Lidzbark Warmiński is a great success for Olsztyn’s museum workers.
Applications for subsidies for the projects within the frameworks of the “Conservation and Revitalisation of Cultural Heritage” programme could be filed until 30 September 2013. The meeting of the Committee for Selection of the Projects was held on 7 February 2014. That body evaluated the applications and recommended 18 projects worth subsidising to the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Based on that recommendation, on 12 February 2014, Minister Bogdan Zdrojewski signed the decision granting the subsidy.
Projects selected for subsidising represent the total value of 275.2 M zlotys. They are all outstanding in their national influence, complexity and high rank of the planned activities – in both protection and retaining the national heritage as well as in the aspect of the assumed cultural and educational programmes. The subsidised projects, given their unique nature, will contribute to promotion of the Polish cultural accomplishments as well as the development of social and cultural competences of the recipients of the planned investment projects.
